Skoda, Ford and GM slashes prices of their Cars

Following the other car manufacturers in India,  Skoda, Ford and GM reduces the prices of their cars. This step is taken to give the customers the benefits against the Relaxation of the 4% of Exice Duty (CENVAT).

Car manufacturer,  Skoda India on Wednesday said it will cut prices of Fabia, Octavia, Laura and Superb by up to Rs 51,500.00 following the four per cent reduction in CENVAT.

“To pass on the benefit of the CENVAT reduction by the government, the company will slash prices between Rs 12,500 and Rs 51,500 across all models,” Skoda India Board Member (Sales and Marketing) Thomas Kuehl told PTI.

GM India for its part cut the prices of its vehicles by up to Rs. 30,500. With immediate effect, the company has reduced the prices of its small car Spark by Rs. 8,000-10,200. The prices of hatchback Aveo U-VA has been cut between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 16,000, while that of entry-level Sedan Aveo is slashed by Rs. 16,700-21,000.

Likewise, the company’s multi-utility vehicle Tavera would be cheaper by Rs. 16,500. “These price cuts are in addition to the discounts offered by the company between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 58,000 on our different models,” P. Balendran, Vice-President, GM India, said.

Ford has cut prices of its model by around 3% of their showroom price. The price reduction varies on Ford products ranging from Rs 17,500 to Rs 54,000. The popular SUV Endeavour’s price is cut by Rs 54,000.

Fiesta’s diesel model price will fall by Rs 25,000 to Rs 7.89 lakh and petrol model will dip by Rs 21,000 to Rs 6.94 lakh. The price of Fusion Petrol Plus will be cut by Rs 18,500 to Rs 6.18 lakh.

President of Ford India Michael Boneham said, “The government action will bring some relief to the Indian automotive industry in general. We recognize the need to boost customer confidence in these times as they look for increased value for money. With these changes the consumers will get yet another reason to cheer and utilize this opportunity.”
