he This time the Volkswagen Jetta TDI won the 2009 Green car of the year. It recorded the lowest fuel consumtion of 58.2 mpg.
The 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI is the latest evolution of VW’s 30-plus years of diesel investment in the North American automotive market. This car is clean enough to meet the most stringent current emissions standards, allowing sale in all 50 U.S. states, including those adopting California clean air standards. And modern clean diesel engines are easy to operate and live with, quiet, and smooth.
Among the competition for the award was the BMW 335D, Saturn Vue 2 Mode Hybrid , Ford Fusion Hybrid and Smart for 2.

The Volkswagen Jetta TDI was launched in USA in the month of August 2008 and has sold 8000 units so far.
